Why Tallow Deodorant Works
Natural deodorant for work days, gym days, hot afternoons, or whatever has you sweating.
Most store bought sticks plug up your sweat glands with aluminum. Ours doesn’t. Activated charcoal and magnesium hydroxide handle the odor, arrowroot handles the wet, and your body keeps doing what it is supposed to do.
Feel the difference the tallow makes. Grass fed tallow and shea butter go on smooth instead of chalky, and they don’t leave your skin raw after a shave.
Aluminum free, baking soda free, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance. Scented lightly with patchouli, tea tree, and peppermint.
Made by hand, from scratch, with real ingredients.
What's In Our Deodorant (and Why)
Beef Tallow
Loaded with vitamins A, D, E, and K. Closely matches your skin’s natural oils. Glides on smooth and keeps underarm skin from drying out.
Coconut Oil
Naturally antibacterial. Goes after the bacteria that turn sweat into odor in the first place.
Arrowroot Flour
Soaks up moisture so you stay dry, without plugging a single sweat gland.
Beeswax
Holds the bar together and adds a light barrier so it stays put through the day.
Shea Butter
Softens and conditions. Takes the sting out of a fresh shave.
Activated Charcoal
Pulls toxins, bacteria, and moisture out of the skin. Neutralizes odor at the source instead of covering it up.
Magnesium Hydroxide
Shifts the pH so odor causing bacteria can’t get comfortable. Does the job baking soda does, without the rash baking soda is known for.
Patchouli, Tea Tree & Peppermint Oils
Natural scent. Clean, not perfumed. Tea tree adds antibacterial backup and peppermint adds a little cool.
How to Use Tallow Deodorant
Swipe a thin layer onto clean, dry underarms. Two or three passes is plenty, a little goes a long way.
Tallow firms up when it’s cold, so hold the bar against your skin for a second and let your body heat soften it.
Coming off a conventional antiperspirant? Give it a week or two. Your body has some catching up to do once the aluminum stops plugging things.
Tallow Deodorant: Common Questions
What is tallow deodorant?
Tallow deodorant is a natural deodorant built on rendered grass fed beef tallow, which closely resembles the fatty acids in human skin, blended with coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, arrowroot flour, activated charcoal, and magnesium hydroxide.
Does natural deodorant actually work?
Yes, as long as it is built right. Odor comes from bacteria feeding on sweat, not from the sweat itself. Coconut oil and tea tree go after the bacteria, activated charcoal and magnesium hydroxide neutralize what is left, and arrowroot soaks up the moisture. You will still sweat. You just won’t smell.
What is the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant?
Antiperspirant uses aluminum salts to plug your sweat glands and stop you from sweating. Deodorant leaves the sweating alone and handles the odor instead. Ours is a deodorant. Sweating is how your body cools itself off, and we would rather not get in the way of it.
Is charcoal good for your deodorant?
Charcoal is great for deodorants because it absorbs toxins, bacteria, and moisture, helping to neutralize odors naturally. Its antibacterial and detoxifying properties make it effective while remaining gentle on most skin types. Some people might experience mild irritation or staining, so it is good to test it first.
What ingredients should I avoid in deodorant?
You should avoid deodorants with ingredients like aluminum, parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. Aluminum can block sweat glands, while parabens and phthalates are potential hormone disruptors. Synthetic fragrances may contain allergens or harmful chemicals, making natural or clean alternatives a safer choice.
Does it have baking soda?
No. Baking soda is what gives a lot of natural deodorants a reputation for burning and rashes. We use magnesium hydroxide instead. It shifts the pH the same way, without the irritation.
Is there an adjustment period?
If you are switching off a conventional antiperspirant, give it a week or two. Your body has been plugged up and it takes a little while to settle back down. After that it evens out.
Does it have a scent?
Yes, but it is light. Patchouli, tea tree, and peppermint essential oils. Clean and natural, and it fades within a few minutes of putting it on. Nothing perfumed or overpowering.
